Product Quickstart Guide

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Product Quickstart Guide gives the most direct route when adding a Simple, Grouped, Bundled, or Configurable Product in Znode for the first time.

A Product has two parts, the Product Type and Attributes.

Not all products are created in the same way. To save time, knowing the type of Product Administrators might be able to cut a few corners and save some time and frustration.

Product Types

Znode supports four products types out-of-the-box:

  • Simple Products

  • Grouped Products

  • Bundled Products

  • Configurable Products

Knowing the Product Type makes it much clearer which Attributes need--or knowing when It can use Znode’s default Attributes or when it needs to be created separately.

Creating a Simple Product

Navigate to: PIM > Products > "Add New" button

A Simple Product corresponds to a single SKU. Simple Products are the "building blocks" of Configurable Products, Grouped Products, and Bundled Products.

Example: Example: Using a red t-shirt as an example, each size of the shirt is actually an individual Simple Product.

  1. Use Default as the Attribute Family
  2. Use Simple Product as the Product Type
  3. Add Product Details and "Save As Draft". The page reloads with action confirmation.
  4. Use "Publish" to make the Product visible. The page reloads with action confirmation.

Creating a Configurable Product

Each variant of a Configurable Product is a unique SKU

A Configurable Product is a Product that has multiple variations and each variation of the Configurable Product corresponds to a Simple Product.

On the PDP, Customers can select which variation they want and add to the cart. In the back-end, each variation would correspond to a unique SKU for Order processing.

Example: T-shirts come in two sizes; Red and Blue. In Znode, Red T-shirts and Blue T-shirts would each have a unique SKU. After a Configurable Product is created, called "Znode T-shirt", Administrators select the Simple Products as variants to be associated.

  1. Create a Configurable Attribute -- (PIM > Product Attributes > Attributes-level)

    1. Create a Product Attribute with the Attribute Detail “Is Configurable” set to “Yes”, then Save.

    2. Be mindful of which Attribute Group you associate the “Is Configurable” Product Attribute with in case you decide to add more variants later.

    3. On the Locale/Values tab, add a Value for each Configurable Products Variant. Then, “Save and Close”.

  2. Create Two Simple Products -- (PIM > Products)

    1. Create Two Simple Products, one for each Variant in our Configurable Product.

    2. Use the Default as the Attribute Family

    3. Use Simple Product as the Product Type

    4. These Simple Products can be hidden by toggling the detail “Enabled” to “No”.

  3. Create a Configurable Product and “Save as Draft”. The page will reload with additional tabs to manage.

    1. Use the Default as the Attribute Family

    2. Use the Configurable Product as the Product Type. Znode will ask for confirmation on which Configurable Attribute(s) can be used.

    3. The Configurable Product must have the detail “Product Status” set to “Yes” to be visible.

  4. On the Variant tab, use the “Associate Products” button to associate the Simple Products we just created with our Configurable Product. Then, “Save as Draft”.

  5. Then, “Publish” the Configurable Product

    1. Use the “Publish” button to Publish the finished Configurable Product.

Note: The above section walks through the steps to create a Configurable Product using the Default Product Attribute Family because it’s the fastest. Administrators can choose to create a new Product Attribute Family before starting this process--instead just substitute the new Product Attribute Family wherever the Default is referenced.

Creating a Bundled Product

A Bundled Product includes all associated Simple Products.

Bundled Products are multiple Simple Products that are only available for purchase together. The Simple Products that are associated with the Bundle can not be separated from the Bundle.

Example 1: Continuing with the t-shirt scenario, a Bundled Product, if a customer purchases one unit, they would actually be purchasing the small, medium, and large shirts.

Example 2: Another example is if an Administrator wants to make a gift basket (a Bundled Product) using many smaller Simple Products. They probably don’t want someone to be able to reduce a gift basket to just a few items, instead, the Administrator wants them to take "all-or-nothing".

  1. Create Simple Products -- (PIM > Products)

    1. Create the Simple Products which will comprise your Bundle Product

    2. These Simple Products can be hidden by toggling the detail “Product Status” to “No” but can still be associated with your Bundle.

  2. Create a Bundle Product Create a Bundle Product and "Save as Draft".

    1. Use Bundle Product as the Product Type.

    2. The Bundle Product must have the detail “Product Status” set to “Yes” to be visible.

  3. After saving, the page will reload with a “Bundle Product” tab for you to manage. Here, On the Bundle Product tab, use the “Associate Products” button to associate the Simple Products we just created with our Bundle Product. Then, “Save as Draft”.

  4. “Publish” the Bundle Product

    1. Use the “Publish” button to Publish the finished Bundle Product.

Creating a Grouped Product

A Grouped Product are multiple Simple Products that allow the Customer to purchase all, some, or one element(s) of the Group. Customers can select the quantity of each Simple Product associated.

Example: Using the t-shirt example with a Grouped Product, the customer sees all three sizes but can choose to purchase one, two, or all three sizes of the t-shirt.

  1. Create Simple Products -- (PIM > Products)

    1. Create the Simple Products which will be part of the Group Product

    2. These Simple Products can be hidden by toggling the detail “Product Status” to “No” but can still be associated with the Group.

  2. Create a Group Product
    1. Create a Group Product and "Save as Draft".

    2. Use a Grouped Product as the Product Type.

    3. The Grouped Product must have the detail “Product Status”  set to “Yes” to be visible.

  3. After saving, the page reloads with a “Grouped Product” tab to manage. Here, On the Grouped Product tab, use the “Associated Products” button to associate the Simple Products just created to the Group Product. Then, “Save as Draft”.

  4. “Publish” the Group Product

    1. Use the “Publish” button to Publish the finished Bundle Product.

Product Attributes

Product Attributes are the details needed by Znode to capture when creating a Product-- so size, shape, color, flavor, and so on. Some of these details are visible on the front-end of a Store and others are exclusively to help manage the back-end.

Head over to the Product Attribute section if a refresher is needed on Attributes, Attribute Groups, and Attribute Families.
