Introduction to Order Types

Navigate to: System Configuration & Management > Commerce Portal Settings > Manage Order Types

This allows admin users to define Order Types that will be used while creating Orders on Commerce Portal. One advantage of creating Order Types and using them while creating Orders is the ability to add default Flags and User Groups to an Order.

Example:

  • Let's say the admin user has created the following Order Type in the admin console:
    • Order Type = Product Customization
      • With associated default Flags
        • Customization Details
        • Quantity and
        • Credit Check
      • With associated default User Groups
        • Customization Expert &
        • Order Processing Team.
  • While creating an Order using the “Product Customization” Order Type, the default Flags (Customization Details, Quantity, Credit Check) and default User Groups (Customization Expert & Order Processing Team) will be associated with an Order.
In “Commerce Portal Settings (under Dev Center)” there is a section “Order Types” where all the configured Order Types are displayed with the following columns with an option to add new Order Types:
  • Type Code
  • Type Name

If no Order Types are created, the message "No records found" will appear.

Managing Order Types

Admin can add new or edit/delete the previously created Order Types.  The add new/edit option will allow them to add/update the following information associated with an Order Type:

  • Type Code (Unique)
    • Type Code is a mandatory field.
  • Type Name
    • Type Name is used as a label for the Order Type.

After saving the Order Type, the admin user can associate the default Flags and User Groups to an Order Type.

Default Flags

  • All the Flags associated with the Order Type will be listed here with the following columns:
    • Order Flag Code
    • Name Unchecked
    • Name Checked
    • Can Override
    • Name Overridden
  • If no Order Flags are associated with the Order Type, the message "No records found" will appear.
  • Admin Users can associate new Order Flags as well as remove the associated Order Flags.
  • To associate Order Flags, admin users can click on "Associate Order Flag," which will display a list of Order Flags to choose from.
  • All the associated Order Flags with the Order Type will be listed here with the following actions:
    • Delete
      • This will remove the Order Flag associated with the Order Type.

Default User Groups

  • All the Flags associated with the Order Type will be listed here with the following columns:
    • User Group Code
    • User Group Name
  • If no User Groups are associated with the Order Type, the message "No records found" will appear.
  • Admin can associate new User Groups as well as remove the already associated User Groups.
  • To associate User Groups, admin users can click on "Associate User Group," which will display a list of User Groups to choose from.
  • All the associated User Groups will be listed here with the following actions:
    • Delete
      • This will remove the User Group associated with the Order Type.

Important Point:

  • Admin Users can delete the Order Types that are associated with Orders; the Order Type fields in these Orders will be blank, and no log will be generated for this activity
