Managing Search Settings & Typeahead Search

Introduction

Navigate to Marketing > Site Search > Search Settings

Znode search settings can be configured through the Marketing section of the Znode admin console. These settings allow administrators to enable and disable the different search features such as typeahead, voice and barcode search. Controls for setting the number of search results that appear in certain areas of the search experience are also available. Additionally, administrators can control the experience for each store separately or have a configuration that covers all stores.

Global Search Settings (All Stores)

The “All Stores” setting is the system-defined, default option in Znode. This configuration is applied to all stores and a great option for administrators that want every store to have the same search experience and only want to configure it once. Adjusting and saving changes to this global setting will automatically apply to all stores.

Store-specific Search Settings

The Store-specific configuration option allows administrators to override the global settings. When a store-specific setting is created and saved it will only apply to the individual store selected. This allows administrators to have unique search experiences for each or specific stores.

Search Settings - Feature Settings

Buyers can search on the storefront using the Voice Search when enabled. This allows the search feature to capture the buyer's spoken voice prompts and convert them to text, which is then searched to find suitable results. When enabled, a microphone icon is visible in the search bar of the storefront.

Administrators can add UPC or QR Code data to product data to be used in the built-in barcode search. When barcode scanning is enabled, buyers can click the barcode icon to scan the QR/Barcode using the camera on a mobile device or a barcode scanner. The code will then be used to search for the associated product.

Znode allows the indexing of structured product data and unstructured marketing content web pages. In some cases, administrators do not have a lot of CMS pages or marketing content and therefore do not need that content to be indexed. CMS pages and Blog/News articles are automatically indexed during the publish process when this feature is enabled. Additionally, a “Pages” tab appears on the storefront search results page that shows relevant content page results.

Hydrated Search enhances product discovery by instantly displaying popular searches, trending products, categories, and brands when a buyer initially clicks the search bar. This contextual information helps buyers discover relevant products before searching, offering dynamic, rich data beyond simple text matches.

Hydrated Search Options

Each option supports showing a max of 10 results with the default configuration of 5.

  • My Searches
  • Popular Products
  • Popular Brands
  • Popular Searches
  • Popular Categories

Scheduler Settings

Hydrated search results rely on order data that is captured for each store. This data can be continuously updated by adjusting the scheduler. A scheduler is created automatically for each search setting that is configured. The scheduler frequency can be adjusted to update the data as needed.

One-Time Scheduler: Executes once at a specified date/time.

Recurring Scheduler: Uses a Cron Expression to schedule regular updates.
